Save money for your small business by making the right printer choices

Running a small business is hard and getting harder. Printing costs can be a huge outloay for a small business and this is a huge worry. However the market in printing is expanng faster and faster giving the small business increasing choice and opportunity to save money.

There is a wide choice from inkjet, laser, standard, multi-function and photo. As with any purchasing decision, be clear what your reqirements are and think about whole life running costs, not just the price the sales person shows you at the stand.

Be careful to take your list of requirments to the store or online shop and evaliuate the choices against these. Often the shop assistants do not have detailed knowledge of the market and you are better placed to carry out some research yourself.

To meet your needs you may not need the latest and prettiest printing device, again it comes down to your requirements. In many cases the printers on the -old stock shelf or in the sale will be fine for your needs. Most main brandssupport printer models for years and years so it should be ok to buy last years model.

There are some classic debates around printer choice, laser or inkjet. Well it is a tough one. Precise comparisons are hard to make, one thing is clear that the market has changed and the old rules are not always applicable anymore. It used to be that laser printers would always be more efficient on consumables than an inkjet. This may not be true. Printers will have an efficiency card and you can compare them. IN many cases inkjets will compete on number of pages printer against cost with the lasers.

One method to cut costs is to avoud buying multiple devices for scanning, printing and faxing and to purchase a multifunction device. These can be great for professional look to your work and to your office. Taking up a mch smaller footprint on the desk space too, often a big consideration.

Many multifunction devcies also have a wide range of connectivity to usb, bluetooth , phone and internet. They often present good quality at a reasonable price

For the business on the road consider a portable printer, these can be folder up and taken in the car or the plane or train and are perfect to print ose emergency documents. Some are quite powerful and their batteries can support the printing of many hundreds of pages.

The History of Dell by Brenda Stokes

Michael Dell, in 1984 founded Dell in order to directly serve their customers with computers that meet their needs. The company was called PC’s Limited and he was still a student at University of Texas at the time. The following year, Dell came out with their very first computer called the Turbo, which had an eight-megahertz processor. The major goal was to produce personal computer systems that were IBM compatible and were produced or entirely stock parts.

What set the company apart was not just its consumer-oriented focus but also its allowance for people to customize their computers during the ordering process. Because each computer was individually assembled, this was possible.

The company grossed 73 million dollars in the first year. The company went public in 1988 offering shares for $8.50 a piece.

The first Dell laptop made its debut in 1991 and by 1993, it became one of the top five computer companies in the world. By 1995, those $8.50 shares were worth $100. The progress of the business was rapid and in 1997, Dell had shipped its ten millionth system.

In 1996, Dell began selling their products through their website and three years later they took over Compaq

Jumping forward a bit, in 2003, Dell introduced their first Dell printers for the public, including those intended for the average consumer and businesses. Dell printers are known for being versatile and easy to use, however a recent development has brought skepticism to the company when Lexmark began working with them whom modified their cartridges so that they don’t work with Dell printers.

However, Dell has a long track record with customer satisfaction, at the very least in regards to their computer products.

How About Printing Your Own Business Cards? By: Charley Hwang

Business cards do not have to be boring. In fact, the more exciting and unique your business card is the more likely it is to be noticed. Since fifteenth century China business cards have been used as a tool for marketing, advertising and promotion.

Although there is no definition for combined phrase “business card” in Webster's or Oxford's Dictionary there is a general explanation for the word “card”, which is defined as (a) thick, stiff paper or thin cardboard, (b) a piece of card for writing on, especially a postcard or greetings card, and (c) a business card or visiting card. From that definition we know that business cards are simply "an imprinted advertising message of one's name and type of business they are engaged, on small pieces of stiff papers or thin pasteboards, usually rectangular in shape and measuring 3-4 inches long by 2 inches wide."

What we know as contemporary business cards have been in use for over two centuries in the United States. As a tool to tell who they were and what area of industry or trade they were skilled in early immigrants would imprint their name and vocation on a calling card and hand them out to others. With modern technology reducing the costs to print business cards, there are few, if any, valid reasons for a person not to have a business card.

When you are just starting out, managing costs is imperative to maintaining and sustaining your business success. If you start-up finances are minimal or if you are a do-it-yourself type of person, quality laser printers that can give you a professional looking end product are affordable for most. Many prominent stationary companies have created laser printer-friendly sheets of business cards that are pre-perforated and are offered on a wide array of different paper stocks, including some with preprinted edging or four-color elements. A good graphics program will allow you to import logos and create a professional-looking business card in record time. While you could use an inkjet printer instead of a laser printer, the increased risk of ink smudging during handling makes the laser printer the preferred choice for professional-grade design and printing work.

Think of your business cards as a fun opportunity to showcase your unique personality, style and flair. Let the process be enjoyable and not a chore. This is your first business opportunity to create something that will get you noticed and attract more business; make the most of it with a smile and a laugh. Imagine capability to produce solar panels from your inket printer

What an incredible thought, the researchers at New Jersey Institute of Technology have developed a concept of a cheap solar cell that can be printed or painted onto flexible plastic sheets. In the future it could be possible to print these from an inkjet printer. This is an incredibly exciting idea that in the future everyone can produce solar panel capabilities from their inkjets. There is still an enormous amount of work before it will be possible to print on a home inkjet printer a solar panel - however it is extremly interesting. Read more about this at http://www.infomaticsonline.co.uk/vnunet/news/2194672/boffins-build-printable-solar.
