Tips to Cut Your Budget on Wedding Invitation by Jerry Leung

Designing and making wedding invitation can be something as expensive as your wedding photography and gown. It can be even more expensive if you want to make the wedding cards extremely unique and elegant. However, if you would like to save money on this item, there are still some ways to do it.

Estimate the number of guests accurately

You will certainly have to make the guest list. However, from my experience, most couple will only have a rough idea of the number of guests when they order the invitations. They have not finished the guest list yet. In this case the only way is to order a larger quantity since it will be nearly impossible (unless you pay a lot) to make extra cards if you find that ten cards are missing. Yet it is in fact costing you more since you may not need so many cards.

As a result, you can save some money if you can have an accurate estimation of your number of guests since you do not need to order the extra in order to play save. This does not only help you to save money but also help to protect our Earth since it creates less waste.

Eliminate other stationeries

Traditionally, you will at least need to make the save the date card, wedding invitation, RSVP and thank you card in order to get a whole set of wedding stationeries. Making more items means a larger budget. If your goal is to save money, you can order the most essential items only.

You can order the invitation cards only. You can ask your guests to save the date by phone. Your guests will also probably give you a phone call to tell you if they will attend your wedding or not.

Print the card yourself

I always emphasize that the best way of saving money is DIY. You can certainly save some money if you print the card yourself. If you think the job will be too much for you and your partner, you may ask your close relatives and friends to help you. They will be more than happy to help since it is your wedding.

You can shop for the cheapest yet acceptable materials for your wedding cards. You can check from your local bookstores for the materials. However, you should always test if your printer at home can print on the materials first otherwise you will just waste your money on the materials.

Create a wedding website

It is a trend for couples to create wedding websites. By using a wedding website, you can put the details of your wedding into it otherwise you will need to print the information on cards which will most probably be more expensive.

You can also consider sending your invitation to your guests via email and advise them to refer to the wedding website. For the thank you notes, you can either put them into your website or send them via email again. In this case you should be able to save even more.

How About Printing Your Own Business Cards? By: Charley Hwang

Business cards do not have to be boring. In fact, the more exciting and unique your business card is the more likely it is to be noticed. Since fifteenth century China business cards have been used as a tool for marketing, advertising and promotion.

Although there is no definition for combined phrase “business card” in Webster's or Oxford's Dictionary there is a general explanation for the word “card”, which is defined as (a) thick, stiff paper or thin cardboard, (b) a piece of card for writing on, especially a postcard or greetings card, and (c) a business card or visiting card. From that definition we know that business cards are simply "an imprinted advertising message of one's name and type of business they are engaged, on small pieces of stiff papers or thin pasteboards, usually rectangular in shape and measuring 3-4 inches long by 2 inches wide."

What we know as contemporary business cards have been in use for over two centuries in the United States. As a tool to tell who they were and what area of industry or trade they were skilled in early immigrants would imprint their name and vocation on a calling card and hand them out to others. With modern technology reducing the costs to print business cards, there are few, if any, valid reasons for a person not to have a business card.

When you are just starting out, managing costs is imperative to maintaining and sustaining your business success. If you start-up finances are minimal or if you are a do-it-yourself type of person, quality laser printers that can give you a professional looking end product are affordable for most. Many prominent stationary companies have created laser printer-friendly sheets of business cards that are pre-perforated and are offered on a wide array of different paper stocks, including some with preprinted edging or four-color elements. A good graphics program will allow you to import logos and create a professional-looking business card in record time. While you could use an inkjet printer instead of a laser printer, the increased risk of ink smudging during handling makes the laser printer the preferred choice for professional-grade design and printing work.

Think of your business cards as a fun opportunity to showcase your unique personality, style and flair. Let the process be enjoyable and not a chore. This is your first business opportunity to create something that will get you noticed and attract more business; make the most of it with a smile and a laugh.
