How About Printing Your Own Business Cards? By: Charley Hwang
Business cards do not have to be boring. In fact, the more exciting and unique your business card is the more likely it is to be noticed. Since fifteenth century China business cards have been used as a tool for marketing, advertising and promotion.
Although there is no definition for combined phrase “business card” in Webster's or Oxford's Dictionary there is a general explanation for the word “card”, which is defined as (a) thick, stiff paper or thin cardboard, (b) a piece of card for writing on, especially a postcard or greetings card, and (c) a business card or visiting card. From that definition we know that business cards are simply "an imprinted advertising message of one's name and type of business they are engaged, on small pieces of stiff papers or thin pasteboards, usually rectangular in shape and measuring 3-4 inches long by 2 inches wide."
What we know as contemporary business cards have been in use for over two centuries in the United States. As a tool to tell who they were and what area of industry or trade they were skilled in early immigrants would imprint their name and vocation on a calling card and hand them out to others. With modern technology reducing the costs to print business cards, there are few, if any, valid reasons for a person not to have a business card.
When you are just starting out, managing costs is imperative to maintaining and sustaining your business success. If you start-up finances are minimal or if you are a do-it-yourself type of person, quality laser printers that can give you a professional looking end product are affordable for most. Many prominent stationary companies have created laser printer-friendly sheets of business cards that are pre-perforated and are offered on a wide array of different paper stocks, including some with preprinted edging or four-color elements. A good graphics program will allow you to import logos and create a professional-looking business card in record time. While you could use an inkjet printer instead of a laser printer, the increased risk of ink smudging during handling makes the laser printer the preferred choice for professional-grade design and printing work.
Think of your business cards as a fun opportunity to showcase your unique personality, style and flair. Let the process be enjoyable and not a chore. This is your first business opportunity to create something that will get you noticed and attract more business; make the most of it with a smile and a laugh. Buying Printer Ink Cartridges By: I C
If you have a printer in your home or your office you probably have to buy printer ink cartridges every now and again. This is a purchase that many people do not enjoy making because they can never seem to remember which cartridges are the correct ones. This doesn’t have to be a hassle as there are some great things that you can do to ensure that you can always remember which printer ink cartridges are the ones that will fit your printer.
First, you can create a note card for the top of your printer that will tell you at a glance which printer inkjet cartridges are right for your printer. When you notice that you are running low, or you are given a warning by your computer or printer, you can simply make note of the printer ink cartridges you need to pick up! Creating this card will literally take seconds but it can save you a lot of stress in the long run, not to mention time!
Another great idea is to keep a business card sized piece of paper in your wallet or purse, in a safe location, that has this information on it. This way, when you are at the office supply store or shopping online all you have to do is pull the piece of paper out of your wallet or purse and you’ll instantly have the information you need in front of you. This is much more convenient than having to open your printer manual each time you need to buy a new cartridge!
When you buy printer ink cartridges you will probably find that the model number that you need is available in more than one size or for a couple different prices. The less expensive of the two is a half filled cartridge, which is why it is less expensive. The more expensive of the printer ink cartridges is completely full, and therefore is more expensive. If you don’t have a lot of extra money you can go for the half filled cartridge, or you can opt for the completely full inkjet cartridges, which will last longer.
Buying printer cartridges doesn’t have to be difficult, as long as you have the information easily accessible at all times. You can choose to buy the cartridges in your local office supply store or you can find them for a discount online, whichever works best for you. If you buy online you need to order in advance so you don’t run out completely!

Recycled Inkjet Paper
We have started to gain experience of using inkjet printer paper that is made from recycled paper. We think this is a terrific way to develop a social responsibility in the home. It contributes to the environment and help to educate the family in a very immediate way. The quality is often very high and you can add a nice statement on all your printing that you have used environmentally conscious paper.
Has anyone used the edible ink yet that is being developed. We have seen some commercial printers using edible inks but have not yet had the chance to experience the use of these ourselves in inkjet printers. We would be very interested to hear an news from our readers on this topic.
